The most important factor in determining if tubal reversal surgery will work for you is your underlying fertility. It is unlikely that this surgery will make you more fertile than you were before you had your tubes tied. Some couples get pregnant easily and, for some, it takes time. If you got pregnant easily before your tubes were tied, you will probably have a better chance of success following reversal procedure. Sometimes during surgery we come across things that are safely and easily fixable during your procedure. If it’s something that will either impair your fertility or cause you to be back in the operating room in the future, we will take care of it at no additional cost to you. This is one of the advantages of doing no more than three reversals a day, we can take the time to do the extra things, if needed.
Every couple of years we publish our patient success statistics, the way that we monitor our patients and report our findings set us apart. We only include successful pregnancies, in the womb, where they can grow into a baby. We do not include ectopic pregnancies, as an ectopic pregnancy is never going to result in a live birth, including those results could be deceptive.
We follow up and collect data on all our patients. If you look at our posted statistics below, we have reviewed patients three ways:
- By age
- By Type of Tubal Ligation
- By Age and Type of Tubal Ligation
Some hints from your history can tell a lot about your basic fertility. If you or anyone in your family has had twins or have gotten pregnant after the age of forty, that is speaks well of your underlying fertility. If you ever got pregnant on birth control pills you have better than average fertility.
