In a word, no. We screen you, at no charge, prior to your first and only visit when we do your surgery. Your lab work is done during your appointment the day before surgery, when we do your preoperative exam. Some facilities charge extra for these things or require you to get $500 worth of lab work before coming to their facility for tubal reversal. Patients have repeatedly told us that they went for a consultation at other facilities thinking they were getting a tubal reversal and the only thing that was discussed was the need for IVF.
If you are considering tubal reversal and would like to tour our tubal reversal center you are welcome to visit. It’s best to call first, but we can usually accommodate visitors weekday afternoons. When you visit you can meet our staff and tour the building, we are very proud of both. Most people who tour are very knowledgeable about tubal reversal, but usually something will come up for discussion and we are happy to take the time to talk to you.
When you have done as many tubal reversals as we have, you realize that no amount of exams, X-rays, ultrasounds or lab work can identify the unusual situations that we sometime see when we actually open your abdomen and look at your tubes. One advantage of only doing 3 reversals a day is that if things turn out to be not as good as we would like, we can take the time to fix them and we will at no extra charge.
